A popular trend in multiverse stories of mashing two characters together will continue in Avengers Forever where a variant of Black Panther is merging with Iron Man later this year. Marvel has been getting a lot of mileage out of the multiverse as of late. Between the movies and comics, alternative Earths and alternative versions of everybody's favorite characters have been incredibly popular. But the Avengers are now facing perhaps their biggest threat in the form of the Multiversal Masters of Evil — a group of alternate versions of villains merged together to create deadly new variants.

Avengers Forever centers around Ghost Rider Robbie Reyes taking on the Multiversal Masters of Evil who are looking to destroy universes one at a time. So far, the story has him trapped on Earth-818 suffering at the hands of the Black Skull, a deadly combination of the Red Skull bonded to the Venom symbiote. Ghost Rider's allies from Earth-818 thus far are a ragtag group of that world's Avengers, including a Tony Stark who became Ant-Man, a gender-swapped Moon Knight, and a Thing made of Infinity Stones among its ranks.

While the first three issues have stayed on Earth-818, the series promises to branch out to other Earths and debut other weird variants of Marvel heroes. One such character, the Vibranium Man, is set to debut in Avengers Forever #6 by Jason Aaron and Jim Towe. According to solicit information posted by League of Comic Geeks, the character will be set up as an opponent to King Killmonger, who has been seen in the page of Avengers as a Killmonger variant adorned in Asgardian Destroyer armor interlaced with vibranium and is aligned with the Multiversal Masters of Evil. Marvel has already released the cover of the issue by Aaron Kuder featuring Vibranium Man's introduction, which shows a clear aesthetic connection to both Black Panther and Iron Man.

Based on the description of the issue, the Vibranium Man is a variant of T'Challa from a world besieged by King Killmonger where the legend of the Black Panther and Wakanda are long dead.

INTRODUCING THE INVINCIBLE VIBRANIUM MAN! On an alternate Earth where Wakanda has been crushed from existence and where the Black Panther is a forgotten legend, one man known as T’Challa will forge a new legacy for himself and perhaps even hope for a planet caught in the grips of the god-slaughtering King Killmonger.

While the previews show that the Vibranium Man will be a version of T'Challa, it's unclear exactly how great an influence Iron Man will be on the character beyond the general aesthetics. Will he have the flight capabilities and repulsor technology of the mainstream Iron Man? What will his personality be like? The series has already played against expectations with the Tony Stark of Earth-818 being a relatively humble and unassuming hero compared to his regular version. This T'Challa will be coming from a world where Wakanda no longer exists, which will likely play a role in his characterization.

Precious little has been shown of the character beyond a short description of his world and an epic costume design. What will his role be in the battle against the Multiversal Masters of Evil? Those answers and where he will fall in the spectrum between Black Panther and Iron Man will likely be revealed when Avengers Forever #6 is released on May 25, 2022.
