The Masked Singer season 7 is seemingly full of surprises as a new preview clip reveals McTerrier's mask falls off mid-performance. The Scottish dog costume was introduced to fans during a preview episode of the season on February 21. The contestant speaks in a heavy Scottish accent, which may or may not be authentic, and wears a red plaid kilt. The performer also revealed that he plays the drums and sings a variety of music genres. The first clue that he gave to fans is a blue electric guitar with a small British flag in the corner, leading fans to believe he may be a famous British artist.
The McTerrier incident is not the only surprise The Masked Singer has in store for season 7. Another preview clip revealed that one of the performers may face a serious injury. While the performer was kept anonymous, the preview clip revealed panelist Ken Jeong running towards the stage and demanding that someone call a medic while panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger stood back, shocked by what was occurring on stage. The season will also follow a new format that separates contestants into three groups based on costumes: the good, the bad and the cuddly.
In the show's latest preview clip, there seems to be an accidental reveal that has McTerrier turning and covering his face. The Masked Singer clip shows McTerrier on stage during his appearance where he seems to trip on something. "He's gonna fall," Jenny calls out from the panelists' table before the performer's dog head falls to the stage. The performer quickly faces away from the audience and panelists as he attempts to cover his face. The crowd and panelists are left in shock, with Jenny advising Nicole to turn around and Ken calling out, "Oh my goodness."
McTerrier is left concealing his face and asking, "What do I do?" Hopefully, the performer is able to hide his identity long enough for a producer to run on stage and help him; however, if he is revealed during the episode, it wouldn't be the first time the show has thrown fans a curveball. During The Masked Singer season 4, the Gremlin became overheated and frustrated during his performance and decided he was going to take his mask off, even though he had not been properly eliminated from the show. While the panelists advised him not to reveal his identity, he ignored their advice and revealed himself to be actor and former boxer Mickey Rourke.
The Masked Singer loves surprises, and McTerrier's accidental reveal is just one of the many that will surely be coming fans' way during season 7. It's likely everything will be okay for McTerrier, and the show is just trying to get fans excited for the new season. However, the show has been unpredictable since its premiere, so there's no telling what may actually happen. While fans continue to guess McTerrier's identity off of his one guitar clue, more evidence of his identity may or may not come in The Masked Singer season 7 premiere.
The Masked Singer season 7 premieres March 9 at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
