Sasuke and Sakura are getting their own Naruto spinoff manga. Shueisha just released the synopsis for Sasuke Retsuden, hinting that the newlywed couple will go through a momentous honeymoon in pure Naruto style.
Eight years after its conclusion, Naruto is still entertaining its fans, mostly through its sequel Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. There are also many other projects, however, such as a series of light novels, one of which will finally be adapted into a manga. Sasuke Retsuden - The Uchiha Descendants and the Heavenly Stardust, is set after the end of Naruto Shippuden, and it follows Naruto's most debated couple on a secret mission away from Konoha village and from the Land of Fire.
According to Comicbook.com, the manga will shine new light on the mysterious Rikudo Sennin, the Sage of the Sixth Path, whose true name is Hagoromo Otsutsuki. The character first appeared in Naruto during the final battle to help Naruto and Sasuke defeat his mother, the evil alien goddess Otsutsuki Kaguya. Rikudo Sennin is responsible for creating the ninja arts, so he is a very important figure for the Naruto world. Sasuke, as a member of the Uchiha clan, is a direct descendant of Indra, Hagoromo's eldest son. Considering its title, the manga will probably focus on this aspect of the Naruto mythos. Here is the official synopsis:
Sasuke goes to the Astronomy Institute of Research, far away from the Land of Fire. In order to find traces of the Rikudo Sennin, he joins Sakura on this journey and begins a secret investigation. However, a life-or-death plan is already in place! The married couple must take on the challenges that come with this surprising research.
Sasuke Retsuden - The Uchiha Descendants and the Heavenly Stardust, however, will not be just about the titular character, as the Uchiha heir is accompanied by his newlywed wife Sakura. Sakura's love for Sasuke is one of Naruto's earliest and most constant themes, and seeing how the two interact after being married will certainly be interesting for readers. Sasuke is usually very aloof and restrained, so this mission abroad could be the chance for him to manifest his affection for Sakura.
The most recent trilogy of Naruto light novels - all written by Jun Esaka with illustrations by series creator Masashi Kishimoto - was originally published in 2019. They will all receive an official English translation in the summer of 2022. Sasuke Retsuden is the first one to be adapted into a manga, which will bring the story of Sasuke and Sakura to a wider audience of Naruto fans old and new.
